Pride and PrejudiceFarncombe Estate will host a special treat for Jane Austen fans on 28th January, as it dedicates an afternoon to explore the adaptations of the much-adored writer’s novels.

After news that four new adaptations will hit our screens in the new year, this short talk will examine the public appetitite for costume drama. Under the guidance of literary expert Angela Day, guests will discuss the problems in adapting a long novel, and question why other writers of the time, such as George Elliot and Thomas Hardy, are often overlooked in favour of Austen.

The short course takes place on Sunday 28th January 2007, from 2.30-4pm. Tickets cost just £9 (including afternoon tea and sandwiches) and can be booked from the Farncombe Estate website www.farncombeestate.co.uk or by calling 0845 230 8590
